Dream On

Inspired by dreams are creations.

Voluntary visions are dreams,

Nourishing the spirit,

Nurturing the soul, kindling the flame,

And igniting the spark

Which motivates and inspires.

Born of irrepressible imagination

And irresistible enthusiasm,

They give birth to adventure, exploration,

Experimentation and discovery.

Wet blankets are too often thrown on those fledglings

Who eagerly strive to fly and follow their young dreams:

"Don't get your hopes up!  You might be disappointed!"

"Stop daydreaming!  It's not realistic!

"Be careful. You might get hurt!"

"Don't be silly!  It'll never work!"

They mean "I want to protect you from disappointment because I love you."

Yet, the fledglings hear: "Don't take chances. You might fail!"

Thus are their wings clipped, the flame snuffed, the play never written,

The music never composed, the risk never taken.

Thus does the spark die.

And yet, should young and old alike not soar with wings spread wide,

And revel in the excitement which spurs on further exploration,

Risking eventual disappointments

In exchange for the joy of discovery?

Isn't all possible, when we are spurred on by true catalysts:

"Go for it and see where it takes you!"

"You'll never know until you try it!"

"Shoot for the stars!"

"DREAM ON!"
